Kate Middleton's Life as a Royal Mom: Inside Her Routine, Her Workout and Her Shopping Cart!
Aug. 30, 2013
Kate Middleton went back to her royal work today—and by just one glance at her you could tell that what she's been doing in the month since giving birth to Prince George has agreed with her.But just what has the Duchess of Cambridge been doing?
Well, for starters, we know that she's been taking care of household needs since she and Prince William returned to the isle of Anglesey after spending the first few weeks of their son's life staying with her family in Bucklebury.
Will is back on active duty as a Search and Rescue Force helicopter pilot and Kate was spotted earlier this week shopping at Waitrose, an upmarket British chain that also happens to have a royal warrant to supply groceries, wine and spirits to Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles. (A royal warrant means they're allowed to advertise that they have members of the monarchy among their customers.)
On this particular shopping trip on Monday, a loaf of bread, bottles of wine and what looked to be a couple of wrapped, ready-to-bake pizzas were visible from Kate's cart. (Do the royals know how much they're just like us?)
And all of her items were tucked into environmentally friendly reusable bags, of course!
She and William will be leaving the island in the near future to set up their permanent residence at Kensington Palace, where living quarters are currently being renovated for them—and their neighbors will miss them!
Kate has been spotted "out and about" around town and on the beach at Rhosneigr, according to one of the spectators at the Ring O'Fire Ultra Marathon in Anglesey, where Will and Kate appeared earlier today to help kick off the 135-mile race.
"They have done wonders for the tourist industry," resident Louise Emory-Jones told the BBC.
Kate also made headlines today due to how fit she looked, so it appears that the new mom is eating right and otherwise taking good care of herself. In addition to walking the family's pup, Lupo, and nursing her son (a famously efficient calorie-burner), Kate is also a reported yoga aficionado, choosing to do antenatal yoga well into her pregnancy—a practice that helps muscles bounce back into shape after giving birth.
"Practicing yoga is also an excellent way to prepare you for labour and the birth of your baby," BabyCentre UK managing editor Sarah Barrett told the Daily Mail. "Kate obviously looks fantastic—and we wouldn't be surprised if a little yoga was part of her secret."
Also over the past month, thank you notes went out to everyone who sent a gift for Prince George, one of probably a hundred baby-related tasks (ones involving etiquette and tradition, we mean, rather than diaper changes and other everyday baby care) that needed to be accomplished after the little heir's birth.
